Spaghetti in Soho

Hong Kong food is considered to be world class and wonderful... but not so much for a vegetarian. Almost every restaurant includes Indian curries on the menu. Fortunately I love Indian curries. I am eating them in many varieties, at least once a day. Last night I finally found a Chinese restaurant with a tofu (here called bean curd) entree. How can something so asian be so hard to find in Hong Kong? My guide book says that "Hong Kong enjoys a very high protein diet" and has a higher rate of cholesterol than US. It has the largest per capital ownership of Rolls Royces in the world, the largest number of Mercedes Benz outside of Germany, and largest consumption of cognac outside of France. So maybe I should not be expecting much tofu here. Here, "organic" and "vegetarian" signs usually indicate a raw juice bar.

Yesterday we were hungry around 3 in the afternoon, when many restaurants are closed. We did find an open Italian restaurant in Soho. Eating at Fat Angelo's in Hong Kong seems a bit odd, but Italian food is very popular here. Robb ate spaghetti and I had a veggie pizza, with Frank Sinatra as musical and video background.

We are exploring the "serviced apartment" option - a furnished apartment with maid service. Yesterday we went apartment hunting, newspaper in hand. This may be difficult, apparently November is a busy time and most buildings have no vacancies. Look - it's Century 21!

Here are more photos from the Soho neighborhood. It is a hillside neighborhood with an outdoor covered escalator to take pedestrians up and down the slope.

Below is the Hong Kong Police Station, 1919.

And look! It's Pac-man! And Donkey Kong!
